# British naturalist David Attenborough awarded 2019 Indira Gandhi Peace Prize.
The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for 2019 will be conferred on 93-year old renowned naturalist and broadcaster David Attenborough.
His name was selected for the prize by an international jury chaired by former President Pranab Mukherjee, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust announced.
The 2019 prize, it added, is awarded to Attenborough for a lifetime of doing more to reveal the wonders of the natural world to us than perhaps any other individual.
David Attenborough is best known for writing and presenting, in conjunction with the BBC Natural History Unit. It is a nine natural history documentary series forming the life collection that together constitute a comprehensive survey of animal and plant life on Earth.
Attenborough is widely considered a national treasure in the UK, although he himself does not like the term. In 2002, he was named among the 100 Greatest Britons following a UK-wide poll for the BBC.

2019 ත්‍යාගය ඇටෙන්බරෝ වෙත පිරිනමනු ලබන්නේ ජීවිත කාලය පුරාම ස්වාභාවික ලෝකයේ අරුමපුදුම දේ වෙනත් ඕනෑම පුද්ගලයෙකුට වඩා හෙළි කිරීමටය.
ඩේවිඩ් ඇටෙන්බරෝ බීබීසී ස්වාභාවික ඉතිහාස ඒකකයට සමගාමීව ලිවීම සහ ඉදිරිපත් කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් වඩාත් ප්‍රසිද්ධය. එය ස්වාභාවික ඉතිහාස වාර්තා නවයක් වන අතර එය ජීව එකතුවක් වන අතර එය පෘථිවියේ සත්ව හා ශාක ජීවීන් පිළිබඳ පුළුල් සමීක්ෂණයක් කරයි.
