# Mexico issues 'world's first' sovereign bond.
MEXICO on Monday 14 September 2020 issued what it described as the world's first sovereign bond linked to the sustainability development goals set by the United Nations, raising 750 million euros (S$1.2 billion).
Deputy Finance Minister Gabriel Yorio said reducing inequality, financial inclusion and the gender gap were among the UN goals.
The government did not specify how it would spend the money raised. The bond's preliminary investment prospectus cautioned that there was no guarantee that Mexico would make disbursements for projects that meet the UN characteristics.
The bond is part of an emerging trend of debt issuance aimed at raising funds that attempt to tackle social, environmental and other issues. It was more than six times oversubscribed.
The coupon of 1.350 per cent was the second lowest among all euro-denominated bonds issued by the Mexico federal government, the ministry said, allowing the government to borrow at an attractive rate. The bond matures in September 2027.

එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ අරමුණු අතර අසමානතාවය අඩු කිරීම, මූල්‍ය ඇතුළත් කිරීම සහ ස්ත්‍රී පුරුෂ පරතරය ඇතුළත් බව නියෝජ්‍ය මුදල් අමාත්‍ය ගේබ්‍රියෙල් යෝරියෝ පැවසීය.
රැස්කරගත් මුදල් වියදම් කරන්නේ කෙසේදැයි රජය නිශ්චිතව සඳහන් කර නැත. බැඳුම්කරයේ මූලික ආයෝජන අපේක්ෂාව අනතුරු ඇඟවූයේ එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ලක්ෂණ සපුරාලන ව්‍යාපෘති සඳහා මෙක්සිකෝව මුදල් ලබා දෙන බවට සහතිකයක් නොමැති බවයි.
මෙම බැඳුම්කරය සමාජ, පාරිසරික හා වෙනත් ගැටළු විසඳීමට උත්සාහ කරන අරමුදල් රැස් කිරීම අරමුණු කරගත් ණය නිකුත් කිරීමේ ප්‍රවණතාවයේ කොටසකි. එය අධි දායකත්වයකට වඩා හය ගුණයකට වඩා වැඩි විය.
සියයට 1.350 ක කූපනය මෙක්සිකෝ ෆෙඩරල් රජය විසින් නිකුත් කරන ලද යුරෝ නම් කරන ලද බැඳුම්කර අතුරින් දෙවන අඩුම අගය වන අතර, ආකර්ශනීය අනුපාතයකට ණය ලබා ගැනීමට රජයට ඉඩ සලසයි. බැඳුම්කරය 2027 සැප්තැම්බර් මාසයේදී කල් පිරේ.
