The World Bank Group’s 2020 Human Capital Index, released today (17 September 2020), finds that a child born in Sri Lanka today will be 60 percent as productive when she grows up as compared to if she enjoyed complete education and full health. This is higher than the average for South Asia region and lower middle-income countries.
Investments in human capital—the knowledge, skills, and health that people accumulate over their lives—are key to unlocking a child’s potential and to improving economic growth in every country.
The 2020 Human Capital Index includes health and education data up to March 2020 for 174 countries covering 98 percent of the world’s population, providing a pre-pandemic baseline on the health and education status of children.

අද (2020 සැප්තැම්බර් 17) නිකුත් කරන ලද ලෝක බැංකු සමූහයේ 2020 මානව ප්‍රාග්ධන දර්ශකය, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ උපත ලැබූ දරුවෙකු සම්පූර්ණ අධ්‍යාපනය හා පූර්ණ සෞඛ්‍යය භුක්ති විඳිනවාට සාපේක්ෂව ඇය වැඩෙන විට ඵලදායීතාව සියයට 60 ක් වනු ඇති බව සොයාගෙන තිබේ. මෙය දකුණු ආසියානු කලාපයේ සහ පහළ මධ්‍යම ආදායම් ලබන රටවල සාමාන්‍යයට වඩා ඉහළ අගයක් ගනී.
මානව ප්‍රාග්ධනයේ ආයෝජනයන් - දැනුම, කුසලතා සහ සෞඛ්‍යය මිනිසුන්ගේ ජීවිත පුරා රැස් කර ගැනීම - දරුවෙකුගේ විභවය විවෘත කිරීමට සහ සෑම රටකම ආර්ථික වර්ධනය වැඩිදියුණු කිරීමට ප්‍රධාන වේ.
ලෝක ජනගහනයෙන් සියයට 98 ක් ආවරණය වන පරිදි රටවල් 174 ක් සඳහා 2020 මානව ප්‍රාග්ධන දර්ශකයට 2020 මාර්තු දක්වා සෞඛ්‍ය හා අධ්‍යාපන දත්ත ඇතුළත් වන අතර එය දරුවන්ගේ සෞඛ්‍ය හා අධ්‍යාපන තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳ පූර්ව වසංගත පදනමක් සපයයි.
