International Day of Awareness on Food Loss and Waste Reduction is observed globally on 29th September. This year is the first-ever observance of the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste. It also comes during the global pandemic, that has brought about a global wake-up on the need to transform and rebalance the way our food is produced and consumed.
Theme 2020: “Stop food loss and waste. For the people. For the planet.”
That is why, in 2019, the 74th United Nations General Assembly designated 29 September as the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, recognizing the fundamental role that sustainable food production plays in promoting food security and nutrition.
Doubtless, this new International Day faces a lot of challenges to achieve our goals of "Responsible consumption and production" which will contribute to the fight for Zero Hunger and against Climate Change.
# ආහාර නැතිවීම හා අපද්‍රව්‍ය අවම කිරීම පිළිබඳ ජාත්‍යන්තර දැනුවත් කිරීමේ දිනය - සැප්තැම්බර් 29.
ආහාර අලාභ හා අපද්‍රව්‍ය අවම කිරීම පිළිබඳ ජාත්‍යන්තර දැනුවත් කිරීමේ දිනය සැප්තැම්බර් 29 වන දින ගෝලීයව සමරනු ලැබේ. ආහාර අලාභ හා අපද්‍රව්‍ය පිළිබඳ ජාත්‍යන්තර දැනුවත් කිරීමේ දිනය සැමරූ පළමු වසර මෙයයි. එය ගෝලීය වසංගතය තුළ ද පැමිණ ඇති අතර, එමඟින් අපගේ ආහාර නිපදවන හා පරිභෝජනය කරන ආකාරය පරිවර්තනය කර නැවත සමතුලිත කිරීමේ අවශ්‍යතාව පිළිබඳ ගෝලීය අවදියක් ඇති වී තිබේ.
තේමාව 2020: “ආහාර නැතිවීම හා නාස්තිය නවත්වන්න. ජනතාව වෙනුවෙන්. පෘථිවිය වෙනුවෙන්. ”
ආහාර සුරක්‍ෂිතතාව සහ පෝෂණය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීමේදී තිරසාර ආහාර නිෂ්පාදනය ඉටුකරන මූලික කාර්යභාරය හඳුනාගෙන, 2019 දී 74 වන එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ මහා මණ්ඩලය විසින් සැප්තැම්බර් 29 වන දින ආහාර අලාභ හා අපද්‍රව්‍ය පිළිබඳ දැනුවත් කිරීමේ ජාත්‍යන්තර දිනය ලෙස නම් කරන ලදී.
ශුන්‍ය කුසගින්න සඳහා සහ දේශගුණික විපර්යාසයන්ට එරෙහි සටනට දායක වන “වගකිවයුතු පරිභෝජනය සහ නිෂ්පාදනය” පිළිබඳ අපගේ අරමුණු සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනීම සඳහා මෙම නව ජාත්‍යන්තර දිනය අභියෝග රැසකට මුහුණ දෙන බවට සැකයක් නැත.
