# Sri Lankan Workers’ remittances up 12.2% in July.
A substantial increase was observed in workers’ remittances in July 2020, recording the highest amount of monthly remittances since January 2018, the Central Bank said in its latest report.
Workers’ remittances continued to increase, recording a growth of 12.2% in July 2020, year-on-year, to US$ 702 million.
However, on a cumulative basis, workers’ remittances declined by 5.5% to US$ 3,682 million during the period January - July 2020, in comparison to the corresponding period of 2019.
Meanwhile, as no tourists arrivals were recorded for the fourth consecutive month in July 2020 due to the pandemic, cumulative tourists arrivals remained at 507,311 during the first seven months of 2020, compared to 1,124,150 arrivals recorded during the corresponding period in 2019.
Accordingly, cumulative earnings from tourism, which are estimated based on tourist arrivals, remained at US$ 956 million during the first seven months of 2020, recording a drop of 54.9% from the corresponding period of 2019.

කම්කරුවන්ගේ ප්‍රේෂණ අඛණ්ඩව ඉහළ යමින් 2020 ජූලි මාසයේදී 12.2% ක වර්ධනයක් වාර්තා කරමින් වාර්ෂිකව ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 702 ක් විය.
කෙසේ වෙතත්, සමුච්චිත පදනමක් මත, 2019 ජනවාරි සිට ජූලි දක්වා කාලය තුළ කම්කරුවන්ගේ ප්‍රේෂණ 5.5% කින් අඩුවී ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 3,682 ක් විය.
මේ අතර, වසංගතය හේතුවෙන් අඛණ්ඩව සිව්වන මාසය සඳහා සංචාරකයින්ගේ පැමිණීමක් වාර්තා නොවූ හෙයින්, 2020 පළමු මාස හත තුළ සමුච්චිත සංචාරකයින්ගේ පැමිණීම 507,311 ක් ලෙස පැවතුණි.
ඒ අනුව, සංචාරකයින්ගේ පැමිණීම මත පදනම්ව ඇස්තමේන්තු කර ඇති සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරයේ සමුච්චිත ඉපැයීම් 2020 මුල් මාස හත තුළ ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 956 ක් ලෙස පැවති අතර එය 2019 වර්ෂයේ අනුරූප කාලයට වඩා 54.9% ක අඩුවීමක් වාර්තා කරයි.
