# The International Day of Peace - 21 September.
The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.
Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire.
The United Nations invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.
2020 Theme: Shaping Peace Together
# ජාත්‍යන්තර සාම දිනය - සැප්තැම්බර් 21.
සෑම වසරකම සැප්තැම්බර් 21 වන දින ජාත්‍යන්තර සාම දිනය ("සාම දිනය") ලොව පුරා පවත්වනු ලැබේ. එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ඒකමතික යෝජනාව මගින් 1981 දී පිහිටුවන ලද සාම දිනය, සියලු වෙනස්කම්වලට වඩා සාමය වෙනුවෙන් කැපවීමට සහ සාම සංස්කෘතියක් ගොඩනැගීමට දායක වීමට සියලු මනුෂ්‍ය වර්ගයාට ගෝලීය වශයෙන් බෙදාගත් දිනයක් සපයයි.
දශක දෙකකට පසුව, 2001 දී මහා සභාව ඒකමතිකව ඡන්දය ප්‍රකාශ කළේ දිනය අවිහිංසාවාදී හා සටන් විරාම කාල පරිච්ඡේදයක් ලෙස නම් කිරීමට ය.
එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ සංවිධානය සියලු ජාතීන්ට හා ජනතාවට ආරාධනා කරන්නේ දිවා කාලයේ සතුරුකම් නැවැත්වීමට ගරු කරන ලෙසත්, වෙනත් ආකාරයකින් අධ්‍යාපනය හා සාමය සම්බන්ධ ගැටළු පිළිබඳව මහජනතාව දැනුවත් කිරීම තුළින් දිනය සැමරීමටත් ය.
