# There was a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse on 05.06.2020 in Sri Lanka.
A penumbral lunar eclipse was visible from Sri Lanka on 05.06.2020, starting at 11.15 p.m. It was reached the maximum eclipse at 12:54 am on June 6 when the Moon is closest to the centre of the shadow. The penumbral eclipse was ended at 2:34 am on June 6, 2020.
A penumbral lunar eclipse happens when the Sun, Earth, and the Moon are imperfectly aligned. In this case, the Earth blocks some of the Sun’s light from directly reaching the Moon with the outer part of its shadow, also known as the penumbra. Since the penumbra is much fainter than the dark core of the Earth’s shadow a penumbral eclipse is hard to distinguish from the normal Full Moon.

2020 ජූනි 05 දින රාත්‍රී 11.15 ට ආරම්භ වන ශ්‍රී ලංකාවෙ වේලාවෙන් චන්ද්‍රග්‍රහණයක් දැකගත හැකිවිය. ජුනි 06 වන දින අළුයම 12:54 ට චන්ද්‍රයා සෙවණැල්ලේ කේන්ද්‍රයට ආසන්න වන විට එය උපරිම චන්ද්‍රග්‍රහණය කරා ළඟා වූ අතර චන්ද්‍රග්‍රහණය 2020 ජුනි 06 වන දින අළුයම 2:34 ට අවසන්විය.
සූර්යයා, පෘථිවිය සහ චන්ද්‍රයා අසම්පූර්ණ ලෙස පෙලගැසී ඇති විට චන්ද්‍රග්‍රහණයක් සිදු වේ. මෙම අවස්ථාවෙහිදී, පෘථිවිය සූර්යයාගේ සමහර ආලෝකය සෘජුවම සඳට ළඟා වීම වළක්වයි, එහි සෙවනැල්ලේ පිටත කොටස සමඟ එය චන්ද්‍රග්‍රහණය ලෙසද හැඳින්වේ. චන්ද්‍රග්‍රහණය පෘථිවියේ සෙවණැල්ලේ අඳුරු හරයට වඩා තද පැහැයක් ගන්නා හෙයින්, චන්ද්‍රග්‍රහණය සාමාන්‍ය පූර්ණ චන්ද්‍රයාගෙන් වෙන්කර හඳුනා ගැනීම දුෂ්කර ය.
