# Former US world gymnastics champion Kurt Thomas passes away.
Kurt Thomas, the first USA male gymnast to win a world championship gold medal, has died aged 64.
The Miami native passed away on Friday 5 June, following a stroke, caused by a tear of the basilar artery in the brain stem.
He has won three world championships.
