# Attorney General’s Department concludes 19,000 cases in 17 months.

Statistics released by the Attorney General’s Department indicate that the Department has concluded a total number of 19,091 cases from January 2019 to May 2020. Coordinating officer to Attorney General State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne stated that the Attorney General has also forwarded 10,785 indictments to the High Court. According to the 2019 statistics report, the Attorney General’s Department has concluded a total of 16,647 criminal cases and forwarded 9,851 indictments to the High Court in that year.
