# Import of Hand loom and Batik halted.

Sri Lanka has taken a decision to halt the import of handloom and Batik textiles into the country, stated President’s Media Division.

The decision has been taken under the directives of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

This decision has been taken as a measure to uplift the local manufacturers of the handloom and batik textiles and to attract more manufacturers to the industry.

A meeting, chaired by President Rajapaksa, was held at the Presidential Secretariat today (15) on the issues faced by textile manufacturers in the country.

අත්යන්ත්‍ර හා බතික් රෙදිපිළි ආනයනය කිරීම නතර කිරීමට ශ්‍රී ලංකාව තීරණයක් ගෙන ඇති බව ජනාධිපති මාධ්‍ය අංශය පවසයි.

ජනාධිපති ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂගේ උපදෙස් පරිදි මෙම තීරණය ගෙන තිබේ.

අත්යන්ත්‍ර හා බතික් රෙදිපිළි වල දේශීය නිෂ්පාදකයින් නඟා සිටුවීමටත්, වැඩි නිෂ්පාදකයින් කර්මාන්තයට ආකර්ෂණය කර ගැනීමටත් මෙම පියවර ගෙන තිබේ.

රටේ රෙදිපිළි නිෂ්පාදකයින් මුහුණ දෙන ගැටලු පිළිබඳව ජනාධිපති රාජපක්ෂ මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් 15.06.2020 දින ජනාධිපති ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේදී රැස්වීමක් පැවැත්විණි.
