# India set to win as non-permanent member of UN Security Council.
India is set to get elected unopposed as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, touted as the global high table, on Wednesday 17 June 2020 for a two-year term starting in January 2021.
According to people familiar with the developments, India along with Mexico and Kenya will get elected comfortably, with contests expected for the other two non-permanent seats for which voting will take place later today 17 June 2020.
The UN Security Council has 10 non-permanent members besides the five veto-wielding permanent ones--Britain, China, France, Russia and the US.
To secure a win, India needs two-thirds of UN General Assembly members to vote for it or get 129 votes.

ගෝලීය ඉහළ වගුව ලෙස නම් කර ඇති එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ආරක්ෂක මණ්ඩලයේ ස්ථිර නොවන සාමාජිකයෙකු ලෙස ඉන්දියාව 2021 ජනවාරියේ සිට වසර දෙකක කාලයක් සඳහා බදාදා 17.06.2020 දින තේරී පත්වීමට නියමිතය.
වර්ධනයන් ගැන හුරුපුරුදු පුද්ගලයින්ට අනුව, මෙක්සිකෝව සහ කෙන්යාව සමඟ ඉන්දියාව සුවපහසු ලෙස තේරී පත්වනු ඇති අතර, අනෙක් ස්ථිර නොවන ආසන දෙක සඳහා තරඟ පැවැත්වීමට අපේක්ෂා කරන අතර, අද 17.06.2020 ඡන්දය පැවැත්වේ.
බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය, චීනය, ප්‍රංශය, රුසියාව සහ එක්සත් ජනපදය යන නිෂේධ බලය පාවිච්චි කරන ස්ථිර සාමාජිකයන් පස් දෙනාට අමතරව එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ආරක්ෂක මණ්ඩලයට ස්ථිර නොවන සාමාජිකයින් 10 දෙනෙකු සිටී.
ජයග්‍රහණයක් ලබා ගැනීම සඳහා ඉන්දියාවට එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ මහා මණ්ඩල සාමාජිකයින්ගෙන් තුනෙන් දෙකක්ම ඡන්දය දීමට හෝ ඡන්ද 129 ක් ලබා ගැනීමට අවශ්‍ය වේ.
