# NASA headquarters to be renamed for one of its Hidden Charactor's Mary W. Jackson.
NASA announced recently that its headquarters will be named after one of its history-making engineers.
In a news release, by NASA Administration announced that agency’s Washington, D.C., headquarters building will be named after Mary W. Jackson, its first African American female engineer.
Jackson graduated with bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and physical science from Hampton University, a historically Black university, in 1942. She was a mathematician and aerospace engineer who started her NASA career in the segregated West Area Computing Unit of the agency’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va. In 1951, she was recruited by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, which was succeeded in 1958 by NASA, where she worked until her retirement in 1985.
Jackson died in 2005 at 83. In 2019, President Trump signed the Hidden Figures Congressional Gold Medal Act, which posthumously honored Jackson, Johnson, Vaughan and Christine Darden, who joined NASA’s pool of “human computers” in 1967.

ජැක්සන් 1942 දී ඓතිහාසික කළු විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයක් වන හැම්ප්ටන් විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයෙන් ගණිතය හා භෞතික විද්‍යාව පිළිබඳ උපාධිය ලබා ගත්තේය. ඇය ගණිතඥයෙකු හා අභ්‍යවකාශ ඉංජිනේරුවරියකි. 1951 දී ඇය ගුවන්යානා විද්‍යාව පිළිබඳ ජාතික උපදේශක කමිටුව විසින් බඳවා ගන්නා ලද අතර එය 1958 දී නාසා ආයතනය විසින් බලයට පත් කරන ලද අතර ඇය 1985 දී විශ්‍රාම යන තෙක් සේවය කළාය.
ජැක්සන් 2005 දී 83 දී මිය ගියේය. 2019 දී ජනාධිපති ට්‍රම්ප් විසින් සැඟවුණු සංඛ්‍යා කොන්ග්‍රස් රන් පදක්කම් පනතට අත්සන් තබන ලද අතර එය 1967 දී නාසා හි “මානව පරිගණක” සංචිතයට සම්බන්ධ වූ ජැක්සන්, ජොන්සන්, වෝගන් සහ ක්‍රිස්ටීන් ඩාර්ඩන්ට මරණින් පසු ගෞරව කරන ලදී.
