# India is the 1st country to control locusts through drones.
India has been lauded by the Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO of the United Nations as the first country in the world to use drones to combat desert locusts.Locust is a crop-threatening migratory pest that has entered the country through the India-Pakistan border.
Under the Make in India initiative, the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers’ Welfare (DAC&FW), Agriculture Ministry has indigenously developed a vehicle-mounted Ultra-low volume (ULV) sprayer for locust control.

කාන්තාර පළඟැටියන් මැඩපැවැත්වීම සඳහා ඩ්‍රෝන යානා භාවිතා කළ ලොව පළමු රට ලෙස එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ආහාර හා කෘෂිකර්ම සංවිධානයේ FAO විසින් ඉන්දියාවට ප්‍රශංසා කර ඇත. පළඟැටිය යනු ඉන්දියාව-පාකිස්තාන දේශ සීමාව හරහා රට තුළට ඇතුළු වූ බෝග තර්ජනාත්මක සංක්‍රමණික පළිබෝධයකි. .
මේක් ඉන් ඉන්ඩියා වැඩසටහන යටතේ කෘෂිකර්ම, සහයෝගිතා සහ ගොවි සුභසාධන දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව (DAC&FW) කෘෂිකර්ම අමාත්‍යාංශය විසින් පළඟැටියන් පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා වාහනයකින් සවිකර ඇති අල්ට්‍රා අඩු පරිමාව (ULV) ඉසිනය දේශීයව නිපදවා ඇත.
