# Government's debt increased by Rs. 01 trillion within first 06 months of 2020.

The total outstanding central government debt has increased to Rs.14,052 billion at the end of the first six months of 2020, the latest weekly report by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) outlines.

According to the report, the total outstanding central government debt stood at Rs. 13,031.5 billion by the end of 2019 and this has increased to Rs. 14,052.2 billion by the end of June 2020.

Accordingly, the total outstanding central government debt has increased by Rs. 1,020.7 billion (one trillion) by end of June 2020.

For the first time in history, the total outstanding central government debt surpassed the Rs.14,000 billion mark in April 2020, as it went from  Rs 13,031.5 billion to Rs 14,024.7 billion.

It decreased by Rs.128.8 billion to Rs. 13,895.9 billion in May 2020. However, again, this has increased to Rs.14,052 billion by end of June 2020.

Meanwhile, the total domestic debt of the government has increased from Rs. 6,629.1 billion to Rs 7,530.8 billion while total foreign debt from Rs 6,402.4 to 6,521.4 billion, within the first 06 months of 2020.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා මහ බැංකුවේ (සීබීඑස්එල්) නවතම සතිපතා වාර්තාවෙන් 2020 පළමු මාස ​​හය අවසන් වන විට ඉතිරිව ඇති මධ්‍යම රජයේ ණය ප්‍රමාණය රුපියල් බිලියන 14,052 දක්වා ඉහළ ගොස් තිබේ.

වාර්තාවට අනුව, 2019 වසර අවසන් වන විට ඉතිරිව ඇති මධ්‍යම රජයේ ණය ප්‍රමාණය රුපියල් බිලියන 13,031.5 ක් වූ අතර මෙය 2020 ජුනි මාසය අවසන් වන විට රු. බිලියන 14,052.2 ක් විය. 

ඒ අනුව, 2020 ජුනි මස අවසන් වන විට ඉතිරිව ඇති මධ්‍යම රජයේ ණය ප්‍රමාණය රු. බිලියන 1,020.7 (ට්‍රිලියන 1)  ක් විය.

ඉතිහාසයේ පළමු වතාවට, 2020 අපේ‍්‍රල් මාසයේ දී ඉතිරිව ඇති මධ්‍යම රජයේ ණය රුපියල් බිලියන 14,000 ඉක්මවා ගිය අතර එය රුපියල් බිලියන 13,031.5 සිට රුපියල් බිලියන 14,024.7 දක්වා ඉහළ ගියේය.

එය රුපියල් බිලියන 128.8 කින් අඩු වී රු. බිලියන 13,895.9 කි. කෙසේ වෙතත්, නැවතත්, මෙය 2020 ජුනි මාසය අවසන් වන විට රුපියල් බිලියන 14,052 දක්වා ඉහළ ගොස් තිබේ.

මේ අතර 2020 පළමු මාස ​​06 තුළ රජයේ සමස්ත දේශීය ණය ප්‍රමාණය රු. බිලියන 6,629.1 සිට රුපියල් බිලියන 7,530.8 දක්වා වූ අතර  මුළු විදේශ ණය රුපියල් 6,402.4 සිට බිලියන 6,521.4 දක්වා ඉහළ ගොස් තිබේ.
