# Vocational Guidance and Counseling compulsory under new education reforms in Sri Lanka.
The Government has decided to make vocational guidance compulsory in schools for grades 6 and above, education officials said.
Dr. Upali Sedara – the Secretary to the State Ministry of Education Reforms, Open Universities & Distance Learning Promotion said this measure will be taken under the new education reforms.
Through this initiatives, the government expecting to direct students for job oriented training, while they complete studies.
In addition, counseling in schools will also be made compulsory, with the intention of providing solutions to various psychological and social problems among children.
Dr. Upali Sedara further noted that a certificate will be issued to every child who passes the ninth grade certifying that the period of compulsory education has been completed.

06 සහ ඊට වැඩි ශ්‍රේණි සඳහා පාසල්වල වෘත්තීය මාර්ගෝපදේශනය අනිවාර්ය කිරීමට රජය තීරණය කර ඇති බව අධ්‍යාපන නිලධාරීහු පවසති.
නව අධ්‍යාපන ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ යටතේ මෙම පියවර ගන්නා බව රාජ්‍ය අධ්‍යාපන ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ, විවෘත විශ්ව විද්‍යාල සහ දුරස්ථ ඉගෙනුම් ප්‍රවර්ධන අමාත්‍යාංශයේ ලේකම් ආචාර්ය උපාලි සේදර මහතා පැවසීය.
මෙම මූලාරම්භයන් තුළින්, සිසුන් අධ්‍යයන කටයුතු සම්පූර්ණ කරන අතරම රැකියා අරමුණු කරගත් පුහුණුවක් සඳහා යොමු කිරීමට අරජය අපේක්ෂා කරයි.
මීට අමතරව, ළමුන් අතර විවිධ මානසික හා සමාජීය ගැටලු සඳහා විසඳුම් ලබා දීමේ අරමුණින් පාසල්වල උපදේශනය ද අනිවාර්ය කෙරේ.
නවවන ශ්‍රේණිය සමත් වන සෑම දරුවෙකුටම අනිවාර්ය අධ්‍යාපන කාලය අවසන් වී ඇති බවට සහතිකයක් නිකුත් කරන බව වෛද්‍ය උපාලි සේදර මහතා සඳහන් කළේය.
