# Mahinda Rajapaksa takes oath as new Prime Minister.
Leader of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Mahinda Rajapaksa took oaths as the new prime minister of Sri Lanka on 09 August 2020.
He was sworn-in before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the sacred site of Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya.
This is the fourth time Mahinda Rajapaksa secured the prime ministerial portfolio.
Mahinda Rajapaksa, who contested the General Election 2020 from Kurunegala,topped the preferential votes at the district level as well as at national level by clinching a whopping 527,364 votes.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ නව අග්‍රාමාත්‍යවරයා ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණේ නායක (SLPP) මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා 2020 අගෝස්තු 09 දින දිවුරුම් දුන්නේය.
ඔහු ජනාධිපති ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ මහතා ඉදිරියේ දිවුරුම් දුන්නේ කැළණිය රජ මහා විහාර පූජනීය ස්ථානයේදී ය.
මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ අගමැති ධුරය ලබා ගත් සිව්වන අවස්ථාව මෙයයි.
කුරුණෑගල දිස්ත්‍රික්කයෙන් 2020 මහ මැතිවරණයට ඉදිරිපත් වූ මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා ඡන්ද 527,364 ක් ලබා ගනිමින් දිස්ත්‍රික් මට්ටමින් මෙන්ම ජාතික මට්ටමින් ද ඉහළම මනාප ඡන්ද ලබා ගත්තේය.
