# Germany agrees plan to phase out coal power by 2038.
The German government and regional leaders have agreed on a plan to phase out coal fired power stations by 2038 involving compensation of about euro 40bn.
The end date for burning brown coal (lignite) - the dirtiest type of coal - could be brought forward to 2035, depending on the progress made.
Germany has more than 250,000 workers in renewable energy sectors - far more than in the coal industry. Coal is a big driver of global warming.

දුඹුරු ගල් අඟුරු (ලිග්නයිට්) දහනය කිරීමේ අවසන් දිනය - දියරමය ගල් අඟුරු වර්ගය - ලබා ඇති ප්‍රගතිය අනුව 2035 දක්වා ඉදිරියට ගෙන යා හැකිය.
ජර්මනියේ පුනර්ජනනීය බලශක්ති අංශවල කම්කරුවන් 250,000 කට වඩා සිටී - එය ගල් අඟුරු කර්මාන්තයට වඩා වැඩිය. ගල් අඟුරු යනු ගෝලීය උෂ්ණත්වය ඉහළ යාමේ විශාල ධාවකයකි.
