# Bangladesh bans free internet for social media to stop ‘unhealthy’ competition.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has ordered the mobile phone operators and other telecom service providers to end totally or partially free internet data for social media use.
The operators have begun implementing the order issued by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission that cited ‘unhealthy’ competition between the companies as a reason behind the decision.
The BTRC also said in letters dated Jul 14 to the companies that “some dishonest people” were carrying out “unnecessary” criminal activities on social media by using the free services.
The information ministry had dictated the BTRC to ban free internet for social media in order to ensure safe internet and maintain normal market competition, said a spokesman for the commission.

සමාගම් අතර ‘සෞඛ්‍ය සම්පන්න නොවන’ තරඟය මෙම තීරණයට හේතුවක් ලෙස සඳහන් කරමින් බංග්ලාදේශ විදුලි සංදේශ නියාමන කොමිෂන් සභාව විසින් නිකුත් කරන ලද නියෝගය ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට පටන් ගෙන තිබේ.
“සමහර වංක පුද්ගලයන්” නොමිලේ සේවාවන් භාවිතා කරමින් සමාජ මාධ්‍යවල “අනවශ්‍ය” සාපරාධී ක්‍රියාකාරකම් සිදුකරන බව බීටීආර්සී විසින් ජූලි 14 දිනැති සමාගම්වලට ලියූ ලිපිවල සඳහන් වේ.
ආරක්ෂිත අන්තර්ජාලය සහතික කිරීම සහ සාමාන්‍ය වෙළඳපල තරඟකාරිත්වය පවත්වා ගැනීම සඳහා සමාජ මාධ්‍ය සඳහා නොමිලේ අන්තර්ජාලය තහනම් කරන ලෙස තොරතුරු අමාත්‍යාංශය බීටීආර්සී වෙත නියෝග කර ඇති බව කොමිසමේ ප්‍රකාශකයෙක් පැවසීය.
