On the first Monday in October, World Architecture Day shows appreciation for the work that architects do. The day also encourages learning more about architecture throughout the world. The International Union of Architects (UIA) designed World Architecture Day in 1985. The first Monday in October was chosen as it coincides with World Habitat Day. This was a way for the UIA to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of human habitats.
