August 20, 2021 marks former PM Rajiv Gandhi's 77th Birth Anniversary, also known as Sadbhavna Diwas.
To date, Rajiv Gandhi stands to be the youngest Prime Minister of India. After the assassination of Indira Gandhi, he took charge as 07th Prime Minister of India at the age of 40.
He was a pilot by profession and had the least interest in politics. Rajiv Gandhi was born in the Nehru-Gandhi family on 20 August 1944 to Indira and Feroze Gandhi. He served as the sixth Prime Minister from 1984-1989, becoming the youngest PM of the nation.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) assassinated him at a rally through a suicide bomber. It took place while he was campaigning for the general election in the year 1991.
