Indian-origin Woman Crowned Miss Universe Australia 2020.
Indian-Australian Maria Thattil was recently crowned Miss Universe Australia this year. The winner was announced in a virtual event due to Melbourne’s 112-day lockdown. Thattil, who is the daughter of Indian migrants, took part in the 16th Edition of the beauty pageant, held on October 28 in Melbourne, Victoria.
This is for the second year in a row that an Indian-origin woman took home the Miss Universe Australia crown. In 2019, another India-born Priya Serrao won the top stop. In 2020, it is Maria Thattil, who is a model and a makeup artist, based in Victoria.
