Raja Jon Vurputoor: The Indian Astronaut selected by NASA for moon mission 2024.
Raja Jon Vurputoor Chari (born June 24, 1977; Col, USAF) is an American test pilot and NASA astronaut. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, MIT, and U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, and has over 2,000 flying hours.
In June 2017, Raja Jon Vurputoor was selected for NASA Astronaut Group 22, and reported for duty in August to begin two years of training as an astronaut.
In December 2020, he was selected to be a part of the Artemis Team, a group of astronauts "to help pave the way for the next lunar missions including sending the first woman and next man to walk on the lunar surface in 2024." The same month, he became the first astronaut from Group 22 to be selected for a space mission, which he will command, SpaceX Crew-3.
