Philippines suspends travelers from four countries including Sri Lanka.

The Philippines has banned the entry of travelers from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka to avert the spread of the double mutant variant of the coronavirus disease 2019 into the country.

In a memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the expanded travel ban to prevent the entry of a new pandemic variant first reported in India.

Medialdea said all passengers who have been to Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh within 14 days immediately preceding arrival to the Philippines, who arrive before May 7, shall not be prohibited from entering the country.
