Cabinet grants approval for 'National Week on Road Safety'.

The Cabinet has granted approval for a proposal presented by the Minister of Transportation for the implementation of a National Week on Road Safety.

The National Week on Road Safety will be held from 21 November 2021, and private institutions, school children, drivers and the public will be made aware of actions to be taken to minimise road accidents.

The decision to implement a National Week on Road Safety has been taken due to increasing motor accidents being reported every day. According to statistics, approximately 8 - 10 lives are lost per day due to motor accidents.

Fatal accidents experienced last year amounted to 2, 023 while 2,114 persons killed in accidents. Moreover, out of total, 963 were motorbike accidents.
