The world's longest high-altitude tunnel on Manali-Leh national highway is fully ready to open in Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul-Spiti district in India.
The 9-km Atal tunnel built at an altitude of about 10,000 feet above sea level in Lahaul Spiti's Rohtang is likely to be formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Atal Tunnel built at a cost of about Rs 3,500 crore is extremely significant from the defence point of view.
This will not only shorten the distance between Manali and Leh by 46 km but will also be beneficial for the residents of Lahaul-Spiti especially during the winter.

මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට අඩි 10,000 ක් පමණ උන්නතාංශයක ඉදිකරන ලද කිලෝමීටර් 9 ක අටාල් උමග ලාහෝල් ස්පිටිහි රොහ්ටැං හි අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය නරේන්ද්‍ර මෝදි විසින් නිල වශයෙන් විවෘත කරනු ඇත.
රුපියල් කෝටි 3,500 ක පමණ වියදමින් ඉදිකරන ලද අටල් උමං මාර්ගය ආරක්ෂක දෘෂ්ටි කෝණයෙන් අතිශයින් වැදගත් ය.
මෙය මනාලි සහ ලේ අතර දුර කිලෝමීටර 46 කින් අඩු කරනවා පමණක් නොව, විශේෂයෙන් ශීතසෘතුවේ දී ලහාල්-ස්පිටි හි පදිංචිකරුවන්ට ද ප්‍රයෝජනවත් වනු ඇත.
