# World Vegetarian Day - 01 October.
October 01st is World Vegetarian Day. World Vegetarian Day was established to provide education and awareness about vegetarian diets.
The North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS) founded World Vegetarian Day in 1977. The special day was endorsed by the International Vegetarian Union in 1978.
There are many reasons people choose to become vegetarians. Some don’t agree with eating meat from animals because they think it’s inhumane. Others become vegetarians for health reasons. It’s believed that vegetarian diets can reduce heart disease. Some believe this type of diet better helps to preserve the Earth.
There are about 355 million vegetarians in the world. OF all the countries, India has the most vegetarians. Mainly due to religious beliefs, nearly 40% of India’s population doesn’t eat meat. Other countries with high numbers of vegetarians include Israel, Taiwan, Italy, Austria, and Germany.
# ලෝක නිර්මාංශ දිනය - ඔක්තෝබර් 01.
ඔක්තෝබර් 01 ලෝක නිර්මාංශ දිනයයි. නිර්මාංශ ආහාර පිළිබඳ අධ්‍යාපනය සහ දැනුවත් කිරීම සඳහා ලෝක නිර්මාංශ දිනය ස්ථාපිත කරන ලදී.
උතුරු ඇමරිකානු නිර්මාංශ සංගමය (NAVS) 1977 දී ලෝක නිර්මාංශ දිනය ආරම්භ කළේය. මෙම විශේෂ දිනය 1978 දී ජාත්‍යන්තර නිර්මාංශ සංගමය විසින් අනුමත කරන ලදී.
නිර්මාංශිකයින් වීමට මිනිසුන් තෝරා ගැනීමට බොහෝ හේතු තිබේ. සතුන් අමානුෂික යැයි සිතන නිසා සමහරු සතුන්ගෙන් මස් අනුභව කිරීමට එකඟ නොවෙති. තවත් අය සෞඛ්‍ය හේතුන් මත නිර්මාංශිකයින් බවට පත්වේ. නිර්මාංශ ආහාර මගින් හෘද රෝග අවම කළ හැකි බව විශ්වාස කෙරේ. සමහරු විශ්වාස කරන්නේ මෙම වර්ගයේ ආහාර පෘථිවිය ආරක්ෂා කිරීමට වඩා හොඳ බවයි.
ලෝකයේ නිර්මාංශිකයින් මිලියන 355 ක් පමණ සිටිති. සෑම රටකම නිර්මාංශිකයින් සිටින අතර ඉන්දියාවේ වැඩිපුරම නිර්මාංශිකයින් සිටී. ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන් ආගමික විශ්වාසයන් නිසා ඉන්දියාවේ ජනගහනයෙන් 40% කට ආසන්න ප්‍රමාණයක් මස් අනුභව නොකරයි. ඊශ්‍රායලය, තායිවානය, ඉතාලිය, ඔස්ට්‍රියාව සහ ජර්මනිය වැනි රටවලද නිර්මාංශිකයින් වැඩි සංඛ්‍යාවක් සිටී.
