# International Day of Non-Violence - 02 October.
The International Day of Non-Violence is observed on 02 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence movement and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence.
According to General Assembly resolution A/RES/61/271 of 15 June 2007, which established the commemoration, the International Day is an occasion to "disseminate the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness". The resolution reaffirms "the universal relevance of the principle of non-violence" and the desire "to secure a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence".
# ජාත්‍යන්තර අවිහිංසාවාදී දිනය - ඔක්තෝබර් 02.
ඉන්දීය නිදහස් ව්‍යාපාරයේ නායක හා අවිහිංසාවාදය පිළිබඳ දර්ශනයේ හා උපායමාර්ගයේ පුරෝගාමියා වූ මහත්මා ගාන්ධිගේ උපන්දිනය වන ඔක්තෝබර් 02 වන දින ජාත්‍යන්තර අවිහිංසාවාදී දිනය සමරනු ලැබේ.
අනුස්මරණය ස්ථාපිත කළ 2007 ජුනි 15 වන දින පැවති මහා සභා යෝජනාවට අනුව, ජාත්‍යන්තර දිනය යනු “අධ්‍යාපනය සහ මහජනතාව දැනුවත් කිරීම ඇතුළුව අවිහිංසාව පිළිබඳ පණිවුඩය පතුරුවා හැරීමේ” අවස්ථාවකි. යෝජනාව මගින් “අවිහිංසාවාදී මූලධර්මයේ විශ්වීය අදාළත්වය” සහ “සාමය, ඉවසීම, අවබෝධය සහ අවිහිංසාව යන සංස්කෘතියක් සුරක්ෂිත කිරීමට ඇති ආශාව” යළිත් තහවුරු කරයි.
