West Indies Cricket Legend Clive Lloyd received knighthood.

West Indies Cricket Legend Clive Lloyd received his knighthood on 12 January 2021 from the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William.

Sir Lloyd was due to receive the honour in 2020 but the ceremony was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He received his Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) along with five other prominent British sportsmen and women.

The 77-year-old Guyana born batsman joins 12 other former West Indies cricketers, including as Sir Frank Worrell, Sir Garfield Sobers and Sir Viv Richards, in being knighted by the UK Royal Family.

Fans of Sir Lloyd took to social media to congratulate him on receiving the long-overdue accolade.
