China has announced a five-year plan to promote its ambition to become a global innovation hub for robotics by 2025. We want to get there by focusing on strengthening key components such as servomotors and control panels.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China released a five-year roadmap, saying that operating revenue from the country’s robot industry is expected to increase by an average of 20% between 2021 and 2025.
The sector expanded with an average annual growth rate of 15% between 2016 and 2020, with operating profit surpassing 100 billion yuan ($ 15.69 billion) for the first time last year.
According to the ministry, the density of manufacturing robots in China last year was 246 per 10,000 people, almost double the world average. This metric is used to measure the level of automation in a country.
