President Joe Biden on Thursday 11 Feb 2021 revoked a national emergency declaration that was being used to fund construction for former President Donald Trump's Mexico border wall project.
In a letter to Congress, Biden wrote that it was now the White House's police that "no more American taxpayer dollars be diverted to construct a border wall."
Trump first declared a national emergency on February 15, 2019 after Congress refused to approve funding for the wall and allowed him to bypass congress and use military funds for its construction. It was extended on February 13, 2020.
About 25 billion dollars had been spent on the project.
