Scientists discover half-a-million-year-old wooden structure.

Scientists working in Zambia have discovered what are believed to be the remains of the world’s oldest wooden structure. Dated to some 476,000 years ago, they are almost a hundred times older than the Pyramids in Egypt.

Professor Larry Barham from the University of Liverpool’s Department of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology led the team that studied the remains at Kalambo Falls in the central African nation. The area is an archaeological treasure trove, with evidence of human habitation from the early Stone Age to modern times.
