History of International Day of Rural Women

On 18th December 2007, the United Nations General Assembly passed resolution 62/136, formally acknowledging the crucial role of rural women in agricultural and rural development, enhancing food security and reducing poverty. Subsequently, on 15th October 2008, the first-ever International Day of Rural Women celebrated.

Significance of International Day of Rural Women 2023

The International Day of Rural Women is celebrated to recognize the work of these heroines in the food systems of the world and claim rural areas with equal opportunities for all.
