Indian-American physician Vivek Murthy has been verified by the Senate as President Joe Biden’s surgeon general, a position in which his top preference would be reacting to the current situation that has harshly hit the country. Dr Murthy, 43, would seize the position of America’s Surgeon General for the second time.
In 2011, president Barack Obama praised him to serve on the advisory committee on deterrence, fitness promotion, and integrative and public health. The Senate elected to confirm Indian-American medic Vivek Murthy to be US President Biden’s surgeon general, handing the administration one of its top public health officials.
Senators appointed 57-43 to confirm the Indian American as Biden’s surgeon general. Dr Murthy had assisted as surgeon general under the Obama administration but was fired by former President Trump in 2017.
