# World Animal Day - 04 October 2020.
World Animal Day is celebrated each year on October the 4th. It started in Florence, Italy in 1931 at a convention of ecologists. On this day, animal life in all its forms is celebrated, and special events are planned in locations all over the globe. The 4th of October was originally chosen for World Animal Day because it is the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environment. Numerous churches throughout the world observe the Sunday closest to October the 4th with a Blessing of the Animals.
World Animal Day, however, has now gone beyond being the celebration of a Christian saint and is today observed by animal-lovers of all beliefs, nationalities and backgrounds. Animal blessings are held in churches, synagogues, and by independent animal chaplains in parks and fields. Animal rescue shelters hold fundraising events and open days, wildlife groups organize information displays, schools undertake animal-related project work and individuals and groups of friends or co-workers donate to animal charities or pledge to sponsor a shelter animal.
The mission of World Animal Day is "to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. Building the celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilising it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals. It is celebrated in different ways in every country, irrespective of nationality, religion, faith or political ideology. Through increased awareness and education we can create a world where animals are always recognised as sentient beings and full regard is always paid to their welfare."
# ලෝක සත්ව දිනය - 2020 ඔක්තෝබර් 04.
සෑම වසරකම ඔක්තෝබර් 4 වන දින ලෝක සත්ව දිනය සමරනු ලැබේ. එය 1931 දී ඉතාලියේ ෆ්ලෝරන්ස් හි පරිසර විද්‍යාඥයන්ගේ සමුළුවකදී ආරම්භ විය. මෙම දිනයේදී සත්ව ජීවීන් සියළුම ආකාරවලින් සමරනු ලබන අතර ලොව පුරා විවිධ ස්ථානවල විශේෂ සිදුවීම් සැලසුම් කර ඇත. ඔක්තෝබර් 4 වන දින මුලින් ලෝක සත්ව දිනය සඳහා තෝරා ගනු ලැබුවේ එය ස්වභාවධර්මයේ පෙම්වතියක් සහ සතුන්ගේ සහ පරිසරයේ අනුශාසක සාන්තුවරයකු වන ඇසිසී හි ෆ්‍රැන්සිස්ගේ මංගල්ය දිනය වන බැවිනි. ලොව පුරා බොහෝ පල්ලි ඔක්තෝබර් 04 වන දිනට ආසන්නව ඉරිදා දිනවල සත්ව ආශිර්වාදයක් පවත්වයි.
කෙසේ වෙතත්, ලෝක සත්ව දිනය, දැන් කිතුනු සාන්තුවරයෙකුගේ සැමරුමට වඩා ඔබ්බට ගොස් ඇති අතර, අද වන විට සියලු විශ්වාසයන්, ජාතිකත්වයන් සහ පසුබිම්වල සත්ව ලෝලීන් විසින් එය පවත්වනු ලැබේ. පල්ලිවල, සිනගෝගවල සහ උද්‍යානවල හා කෙත්වල ස්වාධීන සත්ව දේවස්ථානවල සත්ව ආශිර්වාදය පවත්වනු ලැබේ. සත්ව ගලවා ගැනීමේ කූඩාරම්වල අරමුදල් රැස් කිරීමේ සිදුවීම් සහ විවෘත දින පැවැත්වීම, වනජීවී කණ්ඩායම් තොරතුරු සංදර්ශන සංවිධානය කිරීම, පාසල් සත්ව ආශ්‍රිත ව්‍යාපෘති කටයුතු සිදු කිරීම සහ පුද්ගලයින් සහ මිතුරන් හෝ සම සේවකයින් සත්ව පුණ්‍යායතන සඳහා පරිත්‍යාග කිරීම හෝ සතෙකුට නවාතැන් සඳහා අනුග්‍රහය දැක්වීම සිදු කරයි.
ලෝක සත්ව දිනයේ මෙහෙවර වන්නේ "ලොව පුරා සුභසාධන ප්‍රමිතීන් වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම සඳහා සතුන්ගේ තත්වය ඉහළ නැංවීමයි. ලෝක සත්ව දිනය සැමරීම ගොඩනැගීම සත්ව සුභසාධන ව්‍යාපාරය ඒකාබද්ධ කරමින් ගෝලීය බලවේගයක් ලෙස ලෝකය වඩා හොඳ තැනක් බවට පත් කිරීම. ජාතිකත්වය, ආගම, ඇදහිල්ල හෝ දේශපාලන මතවාදය නොසලකා සෑම රටකම විවිධ ආකාරවලින් එය සමරනු ලැබේ. වැඩි දැනුවත්භාවය සහ අධ්‍යාපනය තුළින් සතුන් සැමවිටම බුද්ධිමත් ජීවීන් ලෙස පිළිගන්නා ලෝකයක් නිර්මාණය කළ හැකි අතර ඔවුන්ගේ සුභසාධනය සඳහා පූර්ණ ගෞරවය සැමවිටම ගෙවනු ලැබේ".
