# SOYUZ MS-16 LAUNCH AND DOCKING, Apr 9, 2020, Kazakhstan, Launch 4:05 am ET, Docking 10:16 am ET (NASA TV)

Russia will launch the Soyuz MS-16 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) on April 9, 2020 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 4:05 am EDT (08:05 UTC).  It will dock about 6 hours later at 10:16 am ET.

NASA TV coverage of launch begins at 3:00 am ET and of docking at 9:30 am ET.  Hatch opening is scheduled for 12:30 pm ET.

On February 19, Russian space state corporation Roscosmos announced that it was replacing its two crew members for this flight — Nikolai Tikhonov and Andrei Babkin — because one had suffered an injury that made him medically unfit.  It was later revealed that Tikhonov suffered an eye injury.

They were replaced by their backups, Anatoly Ivanishin and Ivan Vagner.  NASA’s Chris Cassidy is the third crew member and remains on the Soyuz MS-16 crew.

Therefore, the three Soyuz MS-16 crew members now are:

Anatoly Ivanishin, Roscosmos
Ivan Vagner, Roscosmos
Chris Cassidy, NASA
