# Executive Order on Encouraging International Support for the Recovery and Use of Space Resources.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order on April 6 establishing U.S. policy on the exploitation of off-Earth resources. Its titled as "Encouraging International Support for the Recovery and Use of Space Resources." It is aiming to encouraging international support for its policy allowing private industry for the Recovery and Use of Space Resources from the Moon, Mars and other celestial bodies.
Development of NASA's long-term plans for lunar exploration was one reason why the White House issued the executive order to push for international support for the U.S. view on the use of space resources.
