On the last Friday in November, International Systems Engineer Day highlights the importance of systems engineers. It’s also a day to learn more about systems engineers.
The term systems engineering has been around since the 1940s. It was first used in Bell Telephone Laboratories. Systems engineers work in two combined fields which include engineering and technology. Their technical expertise and passion for technology fuel them to design and build innovative systems in various industries. Some of these industries include energy, finance, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, production, telecommunication, and transportation.
Nicholas Fourie founded International Systems Engineer Day in 2012. He wanted to create a day to say thank you to those who sit behind computers for hours in order to make our lives better.
