Australia lift maiden T20 World Cup.

Australia has become the new world champions after beating New Zealand by 8 wickets in the finale of the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup on Sunday.

Mitchell Marsh reached a fine half-century to put Australia in complete control in the chase against New Zealand. 

Trent Boult once again provided New Zealand a much-needed breakthrough, removing the dangerous David Warner for 53 (38). 

Warner and Mitchell Marsh had put Australia on top, smashing the Blackcaps to all parts of the ground. The duo had gotten together after captain Aaron Finch was dismissed early by Trent Boult. 

Despite losing their skipper, the Australian Warner and Marsh attacked the New Zealand bowlers, finding boundaries at will. 

Earlier, Kane Williamson smashed a brilliant 48-ball 85 as New Zealand managed to reach a total of 172/4 from their quota of 20 overs. 

For Australia, Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 16 while Adam Zampa returned figures of 1/26. 

Initially, Australia won the toss and skipper Aaron Finch elected to bowl against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup final at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.

Invited to bat, New Zealand scored a challenging 172/4 against Australia in the T20 World Cup title clash, on Sunday.

Skipper Kane Williamson top-scored for the Black Caps with his 85-run knock while opener Martin Guptill contributed 28 runs.

Pacer Josh Hazlewood (3/16) took three out of four wickets while leg-spinner Adam Zampa (1/26) accounted for one batsman.
