World Water Monitoring Day - 18 September.

The World Water Monitoring Day is observed every year on September 18 since 2003 to increase public awareness and involvement in water monitoring and protecting water resources around the world. This day is celebrated to increase public awareness and involvement in water monitoring and protecting water resources around the world. World Water Monitoring Day engages people of all ages in monitoring the condition of local rivers, streams, estuaries and other water bodies.

America’s Clean Water Foundation (ACWF) established World Water Monitoring Day in 2003. The initial date of October 18th coincided with the anniversary of the US Clean Water Act. In 2006, the Water Environment Federation (WEF) adopted World Water Monitoring Day. The following year, the date was changed to September 18th to facilitate participation in other parts of the world.

The theme of World Water Day 2021 is valuing water.
