Samitha Dulan sets up new Javelin throw World Record.

Samitha Dulan the Paralympic bronze medal winner once again came to the highlight yesterday when he set up a new world record in F- 44 Javelin throw event with 66.60m at the National Para Athletic championship which concluded at Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.

Samitha Dulan Kodituwakku from Sri Lanka Army hails from Deniyaya won the bronze medal at the last Tokyo Paralympics with a distance of 65.61m while he was able to improve his distance at the National Championship while erasing the previous record of this event held by Australian Micheal Burian with a distance of 66.29m.

National Paralympic Committee (NPC) headed by Lt Colonal Deepal Herath said NPC made a great effort to make this National Paralympic Athletic championship a success which gave good opportunity for the para athletes to show their skills focused on future international events such as Asian Para Games and World Para Athletic Championship.

Meanwhile Paralympic Javelin throw gold gold medalist Dinesh Priyantha Herath (67.79m ) in F- 46 event did not take part this meet yesterday due to injury. The several new National records were established by Para athletes during this two day event which sponsored by Dialog Axiata and MAS Holdings.
