Bumrah breaks Lara’s world record.

Bumrah breaks Lara’s world record, smashes most runs in a single Test over against Broad.

Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah created a new world record by smashing 29 runs off an over from Stuart Broad who conceded the most expensive over in Test cricket history by conceding 35 runs in the over. After centuries from Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant, India crossed the 400-run mark.

By conceding 35 runs in an over, Broad now holds the record for conceding the most number of runs in an over in Test cricket history. The veteran England pacer is also the joint-holder of the same record in T20I cricket alongside Sri Lankan spinner Akila Dananjaya. Broad had conceded 36 runs in the 2007 T20 World Cup against India when Yuvraj Singh smashed him for six sixes in an over. Most runs off an over in Test cricket:

  • 29 - Bumrah off Broad Birmingham 2022
  • 28 - Lara off Peterson Johannesburg 2003
  • 28 - Bailey off Anderson Perth 2013
  • 28 - Maharaj off Root Port Elizabeth 2020
