Ric Flair issues statement after John Cena breaks his WWE World Title record at Wrestlemania 41.

John Cena finally broke Ric Flair's long-standing record of 16 world championship reigns with his victory over Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 and the Nature Boy has issued a statement after the fact. The Champ faced off against the American Nightmare in the main event of the Showcase of the Immortals and it was a highly anticipated showdown.

Cena's heel turn at the end of Elimination Chamber sent shock waves throughout the WWE Universe and was one of the most shocking events in WWE history. His turn to the dark side set up his match with Rhodes nicely and the two finally faced off in the main event of night two at WrestleMania 41 and the 47-year-old emerged victorious after he hit the former AEW man with a low blow and struck him over the head with the WWE Championship.

Cena pinned Rhodes to dethrone him as WWE Champion, bringing his year-long run to an end, but more importantly, it saw the star win his 17th world title. That broke Flair's record of 16 world title reigns and the Nature Boy has now spoken out about the result on social media.

Last year, Cena revealed 2025 would be his last year as an active wrestler in WWE and the clock started ticking on his in-ring career with the company and his chance to break Flair's record for the most world title reigns ever. The Champ tied the Nature Boy's achievement in 2017, but it was beginning to look like he'd never move ahead and land that all-important 17th championship. Now, he's done it, though, with the victory over Rhodes. It didn't take long for Flair to address the victory either.
