Rare Purple Dinosaur Track discovered by Fossil Tour Guide in UK.

A UK-based fossil tour guide used to pointing out fossils to tourists was given quite a treat recently when he discovered a rare purple dinosaur track on the Isle of Wight.

On February 12, Joe, from South Coast Fossil, was exploring the coastline of the Isle of Wight when he encountered something he had not seen in the past - a huge dinosaur footprint in purple coastal clay.

The footprint, while not the fossils that Joe was used to pointing out to customers, was an amazing discovery.

The dinosaur that left the print is believed to be an Iguanodon that measured 32 feet long. These dinosaurs would have lived in the region between 110 million to 140 million years ago.

Known to walk on both their back feet and on all fours, there are varying footprints that have been found of the Iguanodon since its discovery 200 years ago.

This is not the first time that an employee of the company has discovered Iguanodon tracks on the Isle of Wight. But, according to the Miami Herald, because of how quickly they erode, according to the company by the time someone returns, the tracks are "gone."
