# A Twin earthquakes strike southern Sumatra.
Two large and shallow earthquakes struck off Indonesia’s Sumatra island early Wednesday (Aug 19), the US Geological Survey reported, but no tsunami warning was issued and there were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage.
Frightened residents fled their homes when the twin offshore quakes rocked Bengkulu city on Sumatra’s western coast, reporters said.

සුමාත්‍රා හි බටහිර වෙරළ තීරයේ බෙන්ගුළු නගරය දෙදරුම් කමින් සිදු වූ භූමිකම්පා නිසා බියට පත් නිවැසියන් නිවෙස්වලින් පලා ගිය බව වාර්තාකරුවන් පැවසූහ.
