World Theater Day celebrated annually on 27 March around the world.
The International Theater Institute created the day in 1961, and each year their message is spread across stages around the world through dramatic performances.
The first message was written by French playwriter Jean Cocteau on World Theater Day. The first International Theatre Institute conference was held in Finland, Helsinki and the second was held in Vienna.
